SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND

Please excuse a slightly abbreviated version of SFTW this week.. I’m off to that temple of football Villa Park, where I fear that Manchester United are about to puncture the bubble of pre-season positivity that’s been growing in recent weeks over Birmingham B6. Something weekend.

(Have you ever stopped to think, by the way, how the blind optimism of us footy fans is rather like the perpetual expectation investors have that, despite decades of underperformance, this will be the year when finally things come good? More on that next week.)

Quote of the week..

“The markets either keep you honest and humble or they can drive you crazy and cause mistake after mistake. Don’t ever let anyone tell you it’s easy.” (Ben Carlson)

Article of the week..

Ignore the table bangers – & other lessons from the long bull run (John Rekenthaler)
