The elephant in the room

This is fascinating. It’s an opinion piece, by an anonymous fund manager about the FCA’s final report on competition in UK asset management, posted on Monevator,

The central tenet is that, in encouraging the use of intermediaries, the regulator makes transparency more difficult to achieve.

I don’t agree entirely with what the author says — for me, transparency is one thing that a good adviser does provide — but he or she makes some very valid points.
