EBI for Trustees: Have you booked?

Posted by Robin Powell on September 18, 2018

Our first evidence-based investing seminar for fund trustees is just two weeks away, and places are filling up.

The seminars are being organised in conjunction with the Cotswolds-based financial planning firm RockWealth, and are specifically aimed at institutional investors.

We’re not trying to sell anything. We simply aim to help trustees to make evidence-based decisions and deliver better outcomes for scheme members and other beneficiaries.

Among the questions we’re going to be addressing are the following:

What does the academic evidence tell us about the efficacy of investment consultancy?

Can consultants really identify outperforming funds in advance?

Do the costs of using consultants outweigh any benefits they provide?

Why are trustees so keen on high-fee investments such as hedge funds which have provided such disappointing returns?

For an institutional investor, what does an evidence-based investment strategy look like?

The seminars run from 0830 to 1030, breakfast will be provided, and attendance is free.

I will be speaking at both seminars. The first one is at the Queens Hotel in Cheltenham on Wednesday 3rd October. The other speakers there are Steven Greenfield, Regional Director of Dimensional fund Advisors, and Charles Payne, formerly a director at Fidelity.

The second seminar will be held at the Amba Hotel at Charing Cross in London on Wednesday 17th October. Speaking alongside me at that event will be Charles Payne, Dimensional’s David Jones, and the former hedge fund manager and investment author Lars Kroijer.

Whether you run a big public pension fund or a small charitable trust, I guarantee that you will learn a great deal if you choose to join us.

If you’d like to attend, simply email Sarah Horrocks at RockWealth at sarah@rock-wealth.co.uk.
