Video: Why invest in stocks with markets at all-time highs?

Invest in stocks.

As I write, global stock markets are yet again rising to new all-time highs.

It’s at times like these that investors need to remind themselves that stock investing is not a one-way street. Prices can fall very quickly or indeed drift lower over a period of several years.

What will happen to markets from here, nobody knows, least of all me. The bull market could end tomorrow, or it could carry on for another eight years. But if you’re uncomfortable with the risk you’re taking, now is the time to sort it out. And if you haven’t rebalanced for a while, get on and do it.

At the same time, however, don’t lose sight of the fact that investing in equities is the single most effective way to accumulate long-term wealth.

If you haven’t yet started to invest, and assuming you aren’t thinking of committing a large sum to the stock market, all in one go, it could be more of risk to delay getting going than to make a start now.

I recently recorded a ten-minute video interview with Dr Ella Rabener from Scalable Capital about why we should invest in equities, even when there are plenty of “experts” calling a top in the market. In it, she makes some very valid points to bear in mind if you’re feeling apprehensive.

Please do share it with family, friends, and clients if you find it helpful.
