How to win at investing – Video 8/10

Win at investing.

Index funds are by far the best option for the average investor. But is there ever a case for choosing an actively managed fund?

For me, the honest answer has to be no. I’m not opposed to active management on principle. It’s just there aren’t nearly enough active managers who outperform the market consistently after costs to make it worth your while. We can all see who the winners have been in the past; but all the evidence shows that it’s all but impossible to identify future winners in advance.

That said, we need active managers to help set prices, and there will always be a demand for them, as the eighth part of this ten-video series explains.

How to Win the Loser’s Game was commissioned by Barnett Ravenscroft Wealth Management and is hosted on Sensible Investing TV.
